Is the game free? Do I need to install anything?

Every game is free. AI games, quick match and one-on-one games with a friend need no install or sign-up and run straight away in a desktop or mobile browser; open a room and send the invite link, and your friend joins at once. Only ranked play requires signing in.

Is the double-three (3-3) forbidden?

It depends on the rule you choose. Under Renju only Black is barred from double-three, double-four, and overlines; White has no restriction. Under Freestyle, Exact five, Caro, and Swap2 both sides may play 3-3 and 4-4. You choose the rule when you start an AI game, a quick match, or a friend room; ranked play always uses Exact five.

How do I place a stone on mobile?

The first touch selects a square, and touching the same square again places the stone. Touching a different square only changes the selection. In AI games, turning the hint on shows the current win rate, and selecting a square also previews the estimated win rate of playing there. A separate play button is also available.
